Classification of several common sealing strip materials

1. EPDM sealant strip

Excellent comprehensive performance, with ozone resistance, high temperature and low temperature resistance performance, chemical resistance, resistance to a variety of polar solutes, low relative density. The disadvantage is that the amount of expansion in general mineral oil and lubricating oil is large, and it is generally a dark product. Operating temperature range -60 ~ +150 ℃. 2. Silicone rubber sealing strip

It has outstanding high and low temperature resistance and ozone resistance; it has excellent hydrophobicity and proper air permeability; it has unparalleled insulating properties; it can meet the level of food hygiene requirements and also can satisfy the requirements of various colors. The disadvantage is that the mechanical strength is the worst among rubber materials, and it is not resistant to oil. Operating temperature range - 100~+300℃ . It can be used in areas with high temperature, cold, strong ultraviolet radiation and middle and high-rise buildings.

3. Neoprene sealant strip

Compared with other special rubbers, the individual properties are poor, but the overall properties are well balanced. It has excellent ozone resistance, heat aging resistance, oil and solvent resistance, good chemical resistance and excellent flame resistance, and good adhesion. Poor storage stability, hardening will occur during storage, and cold resistance is not good. It has relatively large density and its products are generally black. Used in environments with oil resistance, heat resistance and high demands. Operating temperature range -30 ~ +120 ℃.

4. Nitrile rubber sealing strip

The main features are oil and solvent resistance, but not resist ketone, ester and chlorinated hydrocarbons and other media, with good elasticity and mechanical properties. The disadvantage is that in ozone easy aging crack and cold resistance, low temperature resistance is poor. Operating temperature range -30~+120℃.

5. Polyurethane rubber sealing strip

It has good elasticity and excellent wear resistance, good oil resistance, wide adjustable range of hardness (Shore A hardness of 65 to 80 degrees), excellent mechanical properties (tensile strength, elongation at break), excellent cold resistance and chemical resistance to corrosion performance, and the price of raw materials is higher, which is recyclable materials and can meet the requirements of various colors. Operating temperature range -60 ~ +80 ℃. It is suitable for earthquake-prone areas, near railways or workshops with high-power cranes and other areas with strong vibrations, as well as areas with strong ultraviolet radiation.

The correct selection method of sealing strip

1、The inspection of the sealing strip: when selecting the sealing strip, pay attention to observe whether there are obvious cracks on the sealing strip, whether it is uneven, etc. The surface of the sealing strip is required to be free from scratches, bumps, rust, uniform thickness and no pores.

2、To observe the sealing strip intuitively is to see whether the cross-section joint of the sealing strip is close to the color of the surface of the sealing strip. If it is that illustrates the sealing strip material containing not much filling materials, therefore, you can choose it.

3、Pay attention to the quality of the sealing strip material, wrap the sealing strip on the profile as tightly as possible, place it at high temperature for a period of time (place it on the roof or in a sunny place), and observe whether the contact surface between the profile surface and the sealing strip is dirty, whether the dust on the surface of the sealing strip is yellow (if there is oil on the surface of the sealing strip, it is easy to absorb soil) and whether it is easy to get your hands dirty.
